Local Development Plan (LDP)

Llwchwr Town Council Update September 2011

The Town Council organised three public meetings in the llwchwr area on the 12th May 2011, 17th May 2011 and 18th May 2011 in order to ensure that the community were aware of the LDP process and the Candidate Site Phase in particular. The Candidate Sites that had been registered at the time of the meeting had been plotted onto a plan of the area which was displayed at the meetings together with details of the sites themselves. This meant that the community could see the full impact of the sites if they passed through the filtering stage which was due to follow the close of the Candidate Site Phase.

The plan showed that the impact of the existing sites (there were more that had not been registered at the time of the meetings) would be to remove large areas of the existing green wedge and to use the land for residential development on a vast scale. There were even proposals to develop on the common land in the area. At each meeting the overwhelming response of the community was to object to the loss of the green wedge. In the light of the community response the Town Council lodged objections to the proposals to develop into the green wedge.

The Council has lodged objections to the following sites intended for residential/mixed development.
